Framlingham College Make East of England Top Three!

On Tuesday, 13th March, Framlingham College Boys' 1st XI will represent Suffolk in the East of England U18 Hockey Finals at UEA in Norwich, where they will compete against Hertfordshire Champions, Watford GS, and Chigwell (Essex). Their place in the top three schools in the East was secured at the Regional Qualifiers at Redbridge at the beginning of the month, with victories over Essex Champions, Felsted (2-1), and Haberdashers' Aske's (3-0), following on from a 0-0 draw with Cambridgeshire Champions, the Leys. The Boys' share in the regional limelight was matched earlier in the year by the College Girls' 1st XI, who went unbeaten in their regular season and also got to the East of England U18 Hockey Finals. Much of the spectacular success Framlingham College Hockey has enjoyed in recent years should be credited to the enthusiasm and expertise of Head Hockey Coach and Director of Sport, Jon Slay. His job has been made very much easier this year, however, with the completion of a second floodlit astro-turf and the arrival on the staff of former South African Hockey international and double Olympian, Susan Webber. Moreover, the College coaching team will be strengthened further still in September, when centrally contracted England U18 Coach, Jamie Kingstone, takes over as 'Head of Hockey'.
