Attain is the leading magazine for the independent sector and the official magazine of IAPS - the Independent Association of Prep Schools. The magazine is published termly and distributed to parents and staff at schools across the UK and overseas. It is also available on subscription.
Attain launched the first iPhone app for the sector and continues to innovate with an extensive online presence with useful resources for prospective parents. Search for local schools, both prep and senior, and find out about the latest news and Open Day information. Parents and staff can also follow us via Twitter for up-to-date news from featured prep and senior schools - @attainmagazine.
Already an IAPS Parent?
You are most likely to be reading Attain if you have a child at one of the 600+ IAPS preparatory schools across the United Kingdom. Your child's school is a member of a professional body which is a kitemark for excellence in all aspects of education. To be a member of IAPS, a school has to meet a wide range of criteria and parents can take comfort that they have chosen a first class school for their child.
We hope you will find Attain useful for keeping up-to-date with news and topical issues affecting your child's school. If you don't see your child's school mentioned, encourage them to send us a news story via our website and we would be delighted to include it in a future issue of the magazine.
Attain aims to assist parents in a variety of ways. When it comes to the difficult choices regarding senior school at the ages of 11 or 13, Attain is here to help with extensive online resources to aid parents in finding the right choice of senior school. Our online Directory is a comprehensive resource for parents which makes it easy to find schools which fulfil your criteria - boarding or day, single sex or co-educational. You can request a copy of a school's prospectus, view news and events information and browse the Open Day calendar to help plan a visit.
Considering the independent sector?
Deciding on a suitable prep or senior school is a very difficult decision for any parent. The independent sector offers some of the best educational opportunities available yet it can be a daunting experience to choose the right school.
Using this website, you can quickly find your nearest IAPS school - a kitemark of excellence awarded to the best preparatory schools of all types - boarding and day; co-educational and single sex schools. School fees, however, are far from inexpensive and we more than recognise the sacrifices many parents go to in order to afford to send their child to a particular school. Attain aims to cater for all parents, regardless of budgets, and help them in their search for a school.
Each featured school has a comprehensive listing with photographs, text and interactive map. Parents can request a copy of an individual school's prospectus and, for those parents interested in attending an Open Day, the detailed calendar listings of forthcoming events enable them to easily plan trips and visits.
A member of staff or governor?
Attain is proud of its position as the leading magazine for the independent sector. Since its launch in 2006, we have welcomed editorial contributions from the top Heads of all the major senior and preparatory schools across the country. We have run high-profile features with key politicians and educational professionals and, above all, stimulated debate about our sector.
Independent schools are one of our greatest exports but their role, direction and contribution to society has never been debated more hotly. Attain should be seen as a critical friend, a resolute champion and - if you feel like putting pen to paper - a forum in which you can contribute.
If you would like to see your school's news in Attain, you can register on our website for our unique News Service. This enables schools to upload press releases and stories to our popular website and iPhone app, with the best stories selected to feature in the next print issue of the magazine.
