Ricky cycles ahead of the rest
Ricky Parsons from Taunton School goes strength to strength with his cycling, after winning his race at the Somerset Series Criterium at Ilton on Sunday. Ricky won against a large field and also beat the number one ranked youth rider in the UK. Ricky now looks ahead to the 4th May where he will be competing in one of the most prestigious cycling events, the Isle of Man Tour.

Official Opening of new girls Boarding House
The Taunton School Foundation welcomed back its Patron and major benefactor, Neil Woodyer, on Friday, March 9th to officially open the new girls’ boarding House bearing his name. ‘Woodyer House’. The boarding house is providing superb modern facilities and is located in the heart of the campus and accommodates some 50 girls, aged 13 to 18 years old.

Sophie wins elite sports scholarship
Taunton School Upper Sixth student, Sophie Bowden, is off to the United States for a life-changing educational opportunity. Sophie was spotted by the University of Connecticut’s hockey coach Paul Caddy while playing for the school in an indoor hockey tournament last year, and invited out to visit the university last autumn.

Taunton School student Jodie Dibble has been selected for the England women’s academy cricket tour of South Africa in April. Jodie, 17, whose brother Adam plays for Somerset CCC, is in the squad to play three Twenty20 matches and three 50-over games against the South Africa national women’s team.

Alex is awarded RAF Scholarship
Taunton School was pleased to welcome Sqn Leader Trevor Kirkin on Tuesday, February 28th to award Alex Firth his RAF Scholarship for his commitment and dedication to the RAF.

Having scored excellent results on the Senior Maths Challenge, Taunton School students Molly Wang, Jason Gu, and Jeremy Soper qualified for the British Mathematical Olympiad.

Success at Somerset Schools Art Competition
This year has been an unprecedented success for Taunton School. Eleven of our pupils have had work selected for the Schools exhibition at the Brewhouse out of a total number of only twenty-one pieces.

Following a challenging application and interview process, three U6th students at Taunton School have been offered conditional places by Oxford University. Subject to A level grades, Lewis Chinery will be off to Jesus College to read Classics while Roger Kim has won a place at St. Anne's. IB student, James Evry, hopes to be off to Wadham to read Biology.

Return of Hockey Heros from National Finals
Taunton School's hockey players have returned from the national indoor finals with their heads held high. No fewer than three teams were competing at the weekend - the boys' under-18s and under-16s in Croydon and the girls' under 16s in Worcester.

Chapel Choir Spread Christmas Cheer
The Chapel Choir at Taunton School has been busy during the past week, singing in ‘Dunster by Candlelight’ on Saturday 3rd December and at the Age UK Carol Service in Wells Cathedral four days later. Some Choristers also acted as Carol Singers for the Co-Op Funeral Directors Memorial Service on Wednesday evening.

U18 Boys Indoor Hockey Team crowned Regional Champs!
Taunton School U18 Boys’ Indoor Hockey Team followed up their recent success after winning the county finals, by winning the Regional Finals.

Taunton School Receive Silver Plaque for Golf
For some years now, the Old Tauntonians have been supporting School golf and it has been pleasing that for the past two years the School team has won the prestigious West of England Tournament at Burnham and Berrow.
