Worksop College Preparatory School, Ranby House

Ranby House is an Independent IAPS School for boys and girls, day and boarding, ages 3-13, set in stunning grounds with outstanding facilities in North Nottinghamshire.

About Worksop College Preparatory School, Ranby House
Worksop College Preparatory School, Ranby House is situated in 60 acres of outstanding countryside in North Nottinghamshire.
The Nursery and Pre-Prep takes children from 3 to 7 years in a dedicated building allowing the very young child to feel safe and secure within a happy and relaxed environment, with a seamless transition to the Prep School for ages 7 to 13, whereupon most of our pupils continue to Worksop College our senior school.
The school’s facilities inside and outside the classroom are excellent and include: a Performing Arts Centre which houses a 300 seat Theatre and Music School; a large Sports Centre with Sports Hall and changing rooms; three ICT suites to complement the school’s fully networked intranet; a Design Technology Centre; a Library; two Science Laboratories; a well equipped Art Studio; a dedicated Chapel; four floodlit all-weather netball/tennis courts; extensive level playing fields; and a dedicated boarding house. The Nursery children also enjoy the facilities that a forest school has to offer – learning and exploring in the woods.
Education is for life so at the Prep school the curriculum is both stimulating and wide reaching. The school operates a five day teaching week, and as well as striving for academic excellence in the classroom, the pupils also gain much from the wealth of extra-curricular opportunities, which provide the chance to shine in Drama, Music, Sport and the Creative Arts. Our pupils respond well to all these aspects of school life and are able to develop as all-round individuals. Pupils are also encouraged to take on responsibility at all levels, on the School Council, the Eco Committee, as Librarians and as Year 8 Leaders. Worksop College Preparatory School, Ranby House fosters a special sense of community, instilling values and standards which are often overlooked in the twenty-first century. With awareness of each other and society in general, our pupils grow up with confidence within a framework based on Christian values. Above all, the school is a very happy place to be.
Flexible Boarding, from the age of 7 years, at the Prep school is fun and convenient. Our boarders are looked after by dedicated houseparents who live, with their family, in the school. Flexible boarding allows pupils to stay all week, part of a week, on one or two nights each week or even occasionally when it suits their own family needs. Our boarding house has spacious, colourful bedrooms as well as common rooms equipped with televisions, computers and games consoles. An extensive after-school programme of activities is provided.
At 13 years the majority of pupils transfer to Worksop College (Independent HMC Day & Boarding School for 13 – 18 years), our senior school within Woodard Schools (Nottinghamshire) Ltd, and only five miles in distance from the Prep school. However, we are also delighted to prepare children for other independent schools of their choice. Over the past three years a total of 58 Awards for academic, musical, sporting, art, all-round excellence and leadership have been gained by our pupils transferring to their senior independent school. The school is non-selective and caters for children of all abilities including those with specific learning difficulties.
The school is extremely well-situated half a mile from the A1 and close to the A57/A614. Extensive daily morning and evening bus routes, which the school shares with Worksop College, are available from the surrounding area of Bassetlaw, Rotherham, Doncaster, Mansfield, Newark and Southwell, all providing easy access from a wide area. We also offer extensive before and after school care (7.45am - 6.30pm). Bursaries and Scholarships are available.
You are warmly invited to contact us to arrange to come and visit, meet the Headmaster, staff and pupils and tour the school, to discover how our environment would inspire your child.
